Arctic Wool Experience Center in Sodankylä is a place to explore wool beyond the familiar. Discover natural fibres through touch and comparison, experience wool art and an immersive exhibition, see the artist’s working studio, and take part in guided visits and creative workshops.

  • Wool Boutique

    Discover a curated selection of wool art, handmade creations, gifts and Lapland souvenirs made by local and independent makers. Many pieces are unique or produced in small series.

  • Wool Museum

    The wool museum presents a deeper understanding of wool as a material — its properties, history, cultural significance, and contemporary possibilities in art and design.

  • Traditional Lapland Hut

    Gather around an open fire in our traditional Lapland hut, grill sausages and enjoy hot chocolate or coffee. It adds a warm, authentic Lapland moment to a visit, workshop or group experience.

Group Experience – The World of Wool

A complete experience for groups combining wool, natural fibres, art and hands-on activities. The programme includes a guided introduction to the Center and its exhibition, practical exploration of materials and an opportunity to try working with wool yourself. Depending on the group and the agreed programme, the experience can also include an outdoor moment by the fire with hot drinks. Duration: 2 hours.

Wool Painting Workshop

Learn the technique of wool painting and create your own approximately 20 × 20 cm artwork from wool. The workshop includes materials and personal guidance. No previous felting or art experience is required. Duration: 3 hours

Touch & Feel Visit

A guided introduction to the Arctic Wool Experience Center. During the visit, you will explore wool and different natural fibres, their properties and uses, and discover facts that often surprise visitors. You will also explore wool art, the exhibition, the working studio and the Center Shop. Duration: 1 hour.

Stay next to Arctic Wool Experience Center

Just about 100 metres from the Center are two cosy Afra Arctic Cabins. Each cabin accommodates up to 4 guests, making them a convenient option for couples, families and small groups who would like to combine their visit to the Center with a longer stay in Lapland.
